Postdoc in computational nuclear magneto-optics, Oulu, Finland

A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the group of Prof. Juha Vaara at the Department of Physics,
University of Oulu, Finland.  The field of the fellowship is the theory and first-principles
computation of nuclear magneto-optics, in particular nuclear spin-induced Cotton-Mouton effect
and related phenomena. An example of the recent work of the group in the field is
Ikalainen et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 153001 (2010).

The successful candidate should have a fresh Ph.D. degree and research experience in theoretical
and/or computational physics or chemistry or a related discipline, good command of spoken and
written English, and aptitude for intense collaborative work in a multidisciplinary team consisting
of physicists and chemists.

The position is to be filled initially for one year starting January 1st, 2012. Prolongation of the
contract is subject to the success of further grant applications. The gross salary is in the range
of 2700 to 4000 euros/month (level 5 in the salary system of Finnish universities) depending on the
qualifications and experience of the fellow.  The salary is subjected to normal income tax.
